Itinerary
DAY 1 : MARRAKECH - OUZOUD - DEMNATE - IMI-N-IFRI
Admire one of Morocco’s natural wonders - the Ouzoud Falls. Travel into the Atlas Mountains from marrakech by and air-conditioned vehicle, and witness the stunning, 360-foot (110-meter) waterfalls as they plunge down rugged cliffs. Take photos from various viewpoints, and, if you wish, visit the caves that house watermills powered by the falls. Watch for local Barbary apes or rainbows above the cascades, and savor lunch at a restaurant along the shaded waterfall path.
Just 6km east of Demnate along the R307 is Imi n'Ifri (‘Grotto’s Mouth’ in Berber), a natural travertine bridge that formed over a gorge 1.8 million years ago. The two sides of the bridge are said to represent two local lovers whose families kept them apart, so this Romeo and Juliet held hands and turned to stone.
DAY 2 : IMI IFRI - TIZI-N-OUTFI – TOUFGINE – AIT-ALI-N-ITO - MAGDAZ
Megdaz is a village in the Atlas Mountains known for its high-altitude setting and distinct architecture of Morocco. The High Atlas (as they are also known) are the highest mountain range in North Africa, often called “the roof of Morocco.”
DAY 3 : MAGDAZ VISIT
Enjoy trekking excursion to agafay desert with private transfer, meals. Magdaz visit village and hiking approx. 2 hours per stretch. Possibility to hike only one way to Magdaz. Overnight accommodation in a simple lodge (gite d’étape).
DAY 4 : MAGDAZ - TOUFGINE - TIZI N`FEDRHATE - ASSERMO - SKOURA - TINEGHIR GORGES
Skoura is the first stop on the 1,000 kasbahs road between Ouarzazate and Tafilalet. According to legend, it was founded in the 12th century under the Almohad dynasty. Skoura is one of Morocco’s beautiful oases and it offers weary travelers a chance to rest their weary feet and enjoy the abundance of nature. The source of Skoura’s natural wealth is two seasonal rivers which feed the vegetation in the area.
DAY 5 : TINEGHIR - ALNIF - TAZZARINE - ZAGORA DESERT
Today we set on our excursion to sahara desert, towards a desert by camels. We go through the spectacular landscapes of Draa oasis during for 2 hours and 30 min. we arrive to our camp shortly before the evening to admire the magnificent sunset looming on the sand dunes . An absolutely magic night under a starry sky waits us. There we will be served a Berber evening meal: soup, salad, tagine or couscous with mint tea. We enjoy some local music around a camp fire.
DAY 6 : ZAGORA - OUARZAZATE - AIT BENHADDOU - MARRAKECH
After the breakfast, we go to Ouarzazate via the valley of Draa and we stop to Agdez to visit the Kasbah Tamnougalt before continuing to Ouarzazate. Here we can take advantage of a visit of the studios of the cinema which is known as Hollywood of Africa.
Then, we are going to visit Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, Pasha Laglaoui’s palace classified as heritage World by the UNESCO in 1987. This Kasbah was used as backdrop for more than 20 movies, among which “Gladiator”, “Indiana Jones” and “Lawrence of Arabia”.
Take advantage of a walk to discover the architecture of the traditional Moroccan style in which kasbahs is built. We continue our way to Marrakech by the collar High Atlas and Tizi N’Tichka.
Break had lunch in the middle of the Atlas Mountains. Arrive at Marrakech by the end of the day.
