Itinerary
Day 1 - Marrakech to Essaouira:
As we departed the blazing red city of Marrakech, the road stretched towards the shimmering blue Atlantic coast. Our first stop - the vibrant port town of Essaouira, enclosed within Portuguese fortress walls that shone bright white against the azure sky. Within those walls we uncovered a maze of arts and crafts, woven with care by local hands. As the sun descended we stayed to sample Essaouira's seafood delights before retiring for the night.
Day 2 - Essaouira to Agadir:
Bidding Essaouira goodbye, we ventured south past orchards of argan, the trees scaled by acrobatic local goats. The landscape transformed from desert to oasis as we neared Agadir, arriving at our sea-facing hotel as the sun sank into the ocean.
Day 3 - Agadir to Legzira Beach:
After winding through ancient kasbahs and Berber villages, we emerged at Aglou Beach to admire its crescent cove framed by terracotta cliffs. Further south in Mirleft, we lunched on freshly grilled sardines. As the afternoon light softened, we reached Legzira Beach and its signature crimson arches that emerge from the frothing sea.
Day 4 - Legzira to Tafraoute:
Through oases and tiny mountain villages we climbed, the Anti Atlas mountains now in sight. In Tafraoute we wandered amidst mammoth boulders, painted pink and ocher by the rich sunset.
Day 5 - Tafraoute to Erg Chigaga:
Into the Sahara we plunged, riding camels over massive dunes to our tented camp. As stars spilled across dark skies, campfire light danced with Berber music into the night.
Day 6 - Erg Chigaga to Ouarzazate:
Dawn upon the dunes revealed endless saffron sands. Southwards we explorers ventured, to the ancient Draa Valley with its labyrinth of kasbahs and Palmeries. By nightfall, the film-famous city of Ouarzazate welcomed us.
Day 7 - Ouarzazate to Marrakech:
Our farewell drive passed through more alpine scenery. We lunched among Berber villages as their bright tapis carpets shone like jewels across the Atlas mountains. Exhausted but enlightened, we returned to the pink medina of Marrakech.
Day 8: Marrakech city tour, and departure to your airport destinaion depends on your time departure.
